2024 Rock the Tower Breaks Record, Raising 200K
Rock the Tower, Converse’s 24-hour Day of Giving, received overwhelming support this year from alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and friends. Converse University’s 8th annual Rock the Tower raised $200,000, thanks to you!
From Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jenn Bell making the first gift of the day to SGA president Abeeha Sajid ’25 (Nisbet Honors), stopping by the Rock the Tower headquarters in Wilson Hall to make an in-person gift to the New Life of Excellence Church, which offered a $1500 match for First Generation Programs, support for Converse came from far and wide. Converse is incredibly grateful for each and every donor and graciously welcomes the 55 brand-new donors who supported this year’s Rock the Tower.
Converse’s Board of Trustees offered an abundance of gift matches to help support the transformational Converse student experience for the entire campus and help advance the university’s impact across our region.
Members of Converse’s Class of 1990 offered a match for the School of Business and Data Science in honor of Professors Roger F. Luttrell and Dr. Ann M. Pletcher and their many years of dedicated service at Converse.
The Class of 1986 and friends offered a match to show their support for the Office of Spiritual Life, supporting the office’s mission to offer an expansive variety of student experiences designed to foster and support spiritual growth.
Converse President Boone J. Hopkins joined in on the Rock the Tower fun and applauded the steadfast commitment from the Converse community. Hopkins said, “When you give to the Converse Fund, you’re making a gift to the future by providing bright, hard-working students the opportunity to fulfill their educational dreams and make their own mark on the world.”

The Converse Fund (formerly the “Converse Annual Fund”) raised more than double their initial goal. The Converse Fund provides critical funding for the entire campus community, helping us to enrich our programs, empower our people, and enhance the places on our beautiful, historic campus. This funding provides scholarships, supplies classroom technology and materials, supports student success and wellness, recruits top-notch faculty and staff, and much more.

Assistant Director of Annual Giving Ericka Tyner Grodrian said this event is more than one day of giving — it’s a chance for the Converse community to come together and show its collective care for our beloved institution. “It is heartwarming to see Converse alumni, parents, and friends scattered across the country and around the world showing their support online while also engaging with our local friends, alumni, faculty & staff, and students on campus,” she said. “It is truly a community celebration like no other.”
You can always make a gift to the areas of Converse that mean the most to you and see how our collective impact helps prepare our students for an ever-changing world.
